We were the engineer on the team which won this International Competition to design a new Millennium Project for Manchester.

The £28m building, The Museum of The Modern City,  celebrates the City of Manchester and cities in general, incorporating their histories, their development, and their future.

The site sits at the heart of Manchester’s new Millennium quarter and City Park, and is flanked by the Cathedral, the Corn Exchange and Chetham’s School.

The engineering design includes an in-situ r.c. frame building structure with post tensioned concrete floor plates, and an engineered self-supporting steel and glass envelope wrapping around the building frame.

We have also engineered the permanent exhibits inside the building with Land Design, Event and At Large exhibition designers. The building was opened to the public in July 2002.
